The Release workflow’s Semantic Release job failed during release notes generation due to an incompatible conventional-changelog dependency mix at runtime. This change removes the conflicting package from the release install set so semantic-release resolves a compatible changelog toolchain.

  • Root cause

    • @commitlint/config-conventional was being installed in the release job, pulling a newer conventional-changelog-conventionalcommits preset that expected conventional-changelog-writer@9+, while the semantic-release stack in this workflow resolved an older writer.
  • Workflow change

    • Updated .github/workflows/release.yaml to remove @commitlint/config-conventional from the Dependencies step.
    • Kept semantic-release and required release plugins unchanged.
  • Why this is scoped

    • The failing path is release-note generation in semantic-release; commitlint config is not required for publishing in this workflow.
