Purpose

Describe the problems, issues, or needs driving this feature/fix and include links to related issues in the following format: Resolves issue1, issue2, etc.

This PR upgrades setuptools in the evaluation monitor image, so the image no longer ships the vulnerable packages that the base image's setuptools bundles.

  • python:3.11-alpine ships setuptools 79.0.1, which vendors jaraco.context 5.3.0 (CVE-2026-23949, HIGH) and wheel 0.45.1 (CVE-2026-24049, HIGH). setuptools 84.2.1 brings in the fixed jaraco.context 6.1.0 and wheel 0.46.3.

Goals

Describe the solutions that this feature/fix will introduce to resolve the problems described above

  • The amp-evaluation-monitor image scans clean for HIGH/CRITICAL vulnerabilities.

Approach

Describe how you are implementing the solutions. Include an animated GIF or screenshot if the change affects the UI (email documentation@wso2.com to review all UI text). Include a link to a Markdown file or Google doc if the feature write-up is too long to paste here.

  • Pin setuptools to 84.2.1 (the release scanned clean) in the same layer, before installing the SDK and requirements. An exact == pin matches how requirements.txt pins key packages; the repo uses no hash pinning.
  • Nothing at runtime depends on setuptools (the SDK builds with hatchling), so this only removes the vulnerable vendored copies.
