This builds a MSR base image using the webMethods Installer, on top of a UBI 9 OS.
The resulting image is OpenShift compliant, but it's not as optimized in terms of size as the official product image.
When you need features that cannot be installed with wpm yet, like WmMonitor.
Or when you need a specific patch that's not yet available in an official image.
Copy the webMethods installer at the root of the repo and rename it into installer.bin
You also need an IBM ID (usually an email address) and a MyIBM entitlement key (token.) Basically, the credentials you'd use to perform an interactive install of the MSR.
With these credentials, apply these two commands:
export INSTALLER_USERNAME=<your IBM ID email>
export INSTALLER_PASSWORD=<your entitlement key>
In the build.sh there are two variables:
- INSTALLER_PRODUCTS contains a list of codes, corresponding to products to be installed
- INSTALLER_FIXES contains the list of codes, corresponding to patches that must be applied on top of the product installation The variables are prefilled with values applicable in March 2025 for MSR + WmMonitor, but as time goes new patches will of course be made available.
I can only offer a manual way of fetching the codes you need: run to installer with the -writeImage option and select the products you need in your image. This will generate a script file that contains two keys:
- InstallProducts is the list of products that goes into INSTALLER_PRODUCTS
- selectedFixes is the list of patch codes that gors into INSTALLER_FIXES
Once you've dealt with the prerequisites, you can simply run the following command:
./build.sh <your-image-name>
The build usually lasts a few minutes.
Once you've built your image you can use it the same way you'd use the official product image.
This process is provided without any warranty.
