The collapsed now playing bar is replaced by the now playing toolbar once the panel is expanded, and that toolbar is taller because it also paints the status bar. Since the swap happened at the end of the slide, the content below the bar was laid out against the collapsed bar height during the animation and then jumped down when the toolbar appeared. Reserve the expanded toolbar height on the swipe target in both states so that the content below the bar keeps its final position throughout the slide.
The now playing menus specify both MediaRouteActionProvider and MediaRouteButton for the cast item. AppCompat keeps the action view and ignores the provider, logging "Ignoring attribute 'actionProviderClass'. Action view already specified." Remove the provider so the menus no longer request two action presentations for one item.
