Give Minecraft's light sources real color. Soul torches cast blue light, redstone torches glow red and lava gives off an orange glow, all while keeping vanilla's light levels, range and spread. Only the color changes, so your builds stay as bright (or as dark) as they've always been.
| Version | |
|---|---|
| Minecraft | 26.3 (Java Edition) |
| Fabric Loader | 0.19.5 or newer |
| Fabric API | any version for 26.3 |
| Sodium | 0.9.2 or newer (0.9.x) |
Colored Lighting is client-side only. It works on any server, including vanilla servers, and other players don't need it installed.
- Install Fabric Loader for Minecraft 26.3.
- Put these in your
modsfolder:- Fabric API
- Sodium
- the Colored Lighting
.jar
- Launch the game.
| Block | Color |
|---|---|
| Soul torch, soul lantern, soul campfire, soul fire | Cyan-blue |
| Redstone torch | Red |
| Copper torch | Green |
| Amethyst cluster, crying obsidian, nether portal | Purple |
| Sea lantern, end rod | Cool white |
| Lava | Orange |
Every other light source keeps its normal vanilla color.
Open Options → Video Settings (Sodium's settings screen) and select Colored Lighting in the sidebar. From there you can:
- turn colored lighting on or off
- set Color Strength (0% looks like vanilla, 100% is full color)
- choose a color for each group of lights (soul fire, redstone, copper, amethyst, lava and more), or set a group to Vanilla to leave it unchanged
Changes apply instantly, with no restart.
Settings are saved to config/coloredlighting.json in your Minecraft folder. You can also
edit this file while the game is running; changes are picked up within a second.

A hex code shows up as Custom in the settings screen.custom_blockscolors any light-emitting block, including blocks from other mods, and takes priority overcolors.- Only the hue matters. Brightness always follows vanilla.

- Iris / shader packs: not supported yet. With a shader pack enabled, lights appear in their normal colors.
- Other rendering mods: mods that replace Sodium's terrain renderer may conflict.
- Mobs, players and held items are not tinted yet. Only blocks and fluids are.
